LEARNING REFLECTION ON CIVIL PROCEDURE I
Hey there, basically this post is to complete one of my assignment which is I was given a task to share about my learning reflection on the subject Civil Procedure I.
Before I start, let me introduce myself first, I am Nurul Nabila Binti Jaafar (A156395), final year law student in National University of Malaysia.
Basically this subject is a compulsory subject in the Bachelor of Laws program offered by the Faculty of Law. This subject introduces students to the basic procedures and tactics for conducting civil litigation. It covers issues of jurisdiction, transfer between courts, time limits, institution of actions, pleadings, processes of discovery, various interlocutory applications, parties, amendment of proceedings, settlement and early termination of proceedings, awarding and taxing of costs, trial, appeal and execution of judgments. Students also were exposed to the practise professional communication skills necessary to the litigation practitioner, primarily in the context of making an interlocutory application to the court and drafting relevant letters and documents.
This subject not only teach me about civil matters only but it also teach me to be more mature and explore the other part of me. It will be much more easier, if I narrow down the activies and reflection on the actvities.
First our activity that I would like to mention here is filing document to court. It is not a real court, but our lectures create imaginary court and we learn how to deal with them. The best thing about this activity is time management which we need to work in timeframe and always be alert!
Our next activity is hearing, the most scariest part out of it. For my case, my learned counsel is Anis Hanini. We prepared for our hearing from morning until midnight! On the hearing day itself, what can I say is, I am very proud of myself and I am ready to become a lawyer. I manage to deliver all of my points, convince the judge and object all the opponent points!
Besides all of this activities, this subject is really different and unique from another subject. The unique part is I got a visual class. Which I can access my class everytime, anywhere and many times. All I need to do is play the video. During exam, this videos help me a lot.
Not only that, the lecturer still manage to do a workshop for students so we can get a better understanding!
Finally, even it is tiring, exhausting but I enjoy each and every moment so much!
